Judging by the sinister facial expression of the frog, I would argue that the genre of the movie is ‘Horror’.
The frog is a serial killer with a two-step kill cycle: burying a tadpole alive, then suffocating a pony by shutting it in an airtight treasure chest. The shovel wielded by the frog is the instrument of his latest murder. He wears the headgear of his victim as a trophy. Next he will claim the mane of the pink pony.
