on March 26, 2009 at 10:32 amand it’s this song by animal collective. i know that you kind of got to roll your eyes anytime someone talks about a “what is music” type of o’ band, but man. they got a groove going. saw them last month at the fonda here in la and haven’t been able to shake some tunes out of my head. so, like ‘the ring’ or one of them chain letters that give you cancer, i pass along a video jam to you:

what is ‘la’? is that like ‘lala land’? i = confused by the uncapitalization of proper nouns that makes it hard to read thing.

About the comic today: What’s the 9th Street brothel like? Is it any more brothel-y? Or would that be on 11th Street?
xy: “la” is shorthand for “the seventh layer of hell”
adam: actually, every brothel in the town is on 10th street, and gradient of brotheliness extends on an east/west axis down 10th street. the streets running perpendicular to tenth are named after presidents, and fetish brothels are categorized as such. don’t even ask what kind of crazy shit you find on 10th and Cleveland street.

Awesome song, I recommend “For Reverend Green” if you like the Animal Collective sound.
Actually, that’s my favorite track on the album. Solid.
I hated that song the first couple times hearing it but it grew on me. And my friend Tom actually worked on some of the FX for that video, he did the animation of the creature coming out of the girls mouth about 3 minutes in.
