One of my favorite tropes that I’ve seen a couple times is when someone is extremely talented at something they hate. Imagine a classical violinist dazzling a crowd of concertgoers while rolling his eyes and thinking, “ugh! this is boring as hell, I wish I were watching reruns of Friends.” Or a quarterback in the middle of the Super Bowl hoping to go home early because he’s “not really a sports guy.”

But most people hate their jobs anyway so why should anyone be excluded? Let’s just randomly assign jobs and call it a day. Sure, society will crumble when a prison inmate is assigned “president” but you don’t get progress without trying new things.
