My relatives recycle meat and bones to give to our pet dog. He loves chicken bones.

Just so you know, cooked chicken bones have the potential to splinter and cause a dog some serious (and sometimes fatal) health problems. Bones pulled from raw meat are supposed to be fine, but I’d advise against ever giving a dog bones from a cooked meal.
Just going to say here, for your reference and everyone else’s too – chicken bones should /not/ be fed to dogs. They splinter easily and are a very serious choking hazard. Other bones are okay because they’re more solid and don’t break up, but… Chicken bones, like chocolate, should be kept away.
